Fashion – One of the Most Important Trends in Society

Fashion is a type of autonomy and self-expression at a given time and place and at a given context, typically of clothing, shoes, hairstyle, cosmetics, body language, and lifestyle. In its broader usage, the word signifies a style defined by the fashion industry at what is fashionable at that time. The more narrow usage, however, suggests a style that is trendy for a specified season or style. Fashion can refer to a general attitude or desire or it can refer to a specific style of dressing, as for example, cool, classy, or sexy. This latter usage has become increasingly common today, particularly since the early nineties. It can encompass a variety of styles and fashions, such as sportswear, work wear, evening dresses, casual clothes, lingerie, or even furniture.

The increasing popularity of celebrities in western culture, combined with the ever-changing visual culture, has contributed to the increasing trend of celebrities as an icon of modern fashion. Celebrities are usually the most popular subjects when it comes to magazine articles, television shows, and movies devoted to fashion. Fashionable people are usually the ones who have something memorable or noteworthy to say about themselves. Fashion models, famous actors, and actresses, singers, and other entertainers who come out with new clothes and/or hairstyles on a regular basis make a big part of the trends that are considered fashionable.
